摘要: The endosymbionts of Paramecium aurelia appear to consist a number different Gramnegative bacteria which have come live within many strains paramecia. It is not known whether in nature this relationship mutually beneficial or not. symbionts from one paramecium may kill other paramecia lacking that kind symbiont. We identify the following classes endosymbiotic organisms. First, kappa particles (found P. , syngens 2 and 4) ordinarily contain highly characteristic refractile, R, bodies, are associated with production toxin kills sensitive In certain mutants found laboratory both R bodies ability been lost. Second, mu (in 1, 8) produce phenomenon mate-killing. Third, lambda (syngens 4 sigma (syngen 2) very large, flagellated organisms only 3, 5 9, enclosed membrane-bound vacuoles. Fourth, gamma minute endosymbionts, surrounded by an additional membrane resembling endoplasmic reticulum. They strong killing activity but no bodies. Fifth, delta 1 6) possess dense layer covering outer membrane. At least two stocks killer. Sixth, nu heterogeneous group 5) do distinctive morphological characteristics. Seventh, alpha nuclear aurelia; they macronucleus. Alpha also exceptional being particle infectious, though can be taken up them, under special conditions.
