摘要: Itaipu Lake, which includes the hydroelectric power plant, is one of largest dams in world and has a strong relationship with its surroundings. The flooded area multiple uses such as navigation, recreation, water abstraction for industrial, urban agricultural irrigation. lake located at frontier between Brazil, Argentina Paraguay. In this study, superficial sediments collected from nine sampling sites were analysed grain size, organic matter 16 priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fluorescence detector. total concentration PAHs dry sediment ranged 35.21 to 685.37 µg kg−1. Diagnostic ratios showed that possible source Lake could be pyrolitic petrogenic. potential toxicity varied not detected 127.70 g−1, suggesting some adverse ecological effects would arise due these sediments.
