摘要: New technologies have been propelling dramatic increases in the volume and diversity of large-scale public data, which can potentially be reused to answer questions beyond those originally envisioned. However, this often requires computational statistical skills reach most bench scientists. The development educational accessible tools is thus critical, as are crowdsourcing efforts that utilize community's expertise curate data for hypothesis generation testing. Here we review history public-data reuse argue greater incorporation sciences into biomedical education curriculum biologist-friendly tools. Finally, provide a resource list highlight an illustrative exercise explore gene-expression human autoimmune diseases corresponding mouse models. Through education, tool development, community engagement, immunologists will poised transform biological insights.
