摘要: Abstract A technique for the measurement or tracking of fine distortion in macroscopic objects nominally circular section is described and assessed. Distortions order several microns have been measured a 14 cm diameter, thick-walled polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA Perspex) cylinder by location multiple edge points object its x-ray CT images using circle-PLUS subpixel detection procedure. The was deformed compressing it along diameter over total range 340 μ m (0.7 pixel image) 10 steps. successive wall deflections direction compression, corresponding perpendicular direction, were calculated from obtained GE Lightspeed medical scanner. shifts compared directly with mechanical measurements micrometer. minimum detectable shift 0.033 pixel 1/30th pixel ( 16 ) image verified measurement. procedure should be applicable to both precision industrial clinical such as vessel bone dimensions applications requiring precise organ size, shape position determination. not restricted could also readily applied optical MRI data.
