摘要: Neisseria gonorrhoeae is an obligate human pathogen that responsible for the sexually-transmitted disease gonorrhea. N. encodes a T4SS within Gonococcal Genetic Island (GGI), which secretes ssDNA directly into external milieu. Type IV secretion systems (T4SSs) play role in horizontal gene transfer and delivery of effector molecules target cells. We demonstrate GGI-like T4SSs are present other β-proteobacteria, as well α- γ-proteobacteria. Sequence comparison reveals form highly conserved unit can be found located both on chromosomes plasmids. To better understand mechanism DNA by gonorrhoeae, we performed mutagenesis all genes encoded GGI, studied effects these mutations secretion. show required yaa-atlA parA-parB regions, while yfeB-exp1 region could deleted without any effect Genes essential at least four different operons.
