摘要: [1] The southern part of the Iberian Massif contains one sutures European Variscan belt. Several systems faults and dikes appear as a result period brittle deformation during late stages tectonic evolution this zone. A detailed analysis these structures has been carried out in work. Four successive phases have identified: first strike-slip normal faulting stage, transcurrent second and, finally, thrusting stage. The age vary between around 310 Ma less than 270 Ma. computed trajectories axes show progressive anticlockwise rotation 90°. These data, together with results previous geological geophysical studies zone belt whole, lead us to propose model for last collision. Comparison modern examples collisional belts analog experiments suggests that promontory continental lithosphere downgoing plate indented against active margin upper plate. indenter suffered an intense deformation, accordance predictions some recent models simulating indentation four-layer lithosphere. Late episodes represent waning collision, not independent event.
