摘要: The purpose of this paper is to understand how digital technologies can help healthcare organisations and improve the exploration-exploitation paradox over time. authors explore inputs, processes outcomes implementing transformation programs advance four testable propositions.,The conducted multiple case studies with embedded units analysis: processes; hospitals; regional systems. Primary sources come from 107 semi-structured interviews key informants within 14 Italian hospitals between 2009 through 2011.,Three complementary paths emerge as fundamental balance exploratory exploitatory efforts in healthcare: assets digitalisation digitally based process integration; disruptive decision-making analytics. Intra- inter-path characteristics are discussed show both move hospital space.,By its very nature, study exploratory. Notwithstanding number cases interviews, generalisability limited.,Digital resolve tensions raised by paradox. Their implementation leads better performance (cost reductions, quality improvements). A framework provided for practitioners make decisions.,This sheds new light on actually adopted adapted contexts. It does it entailing a longitudinal perspective.
