摘要: Factors which determine the luminescence efficiency of activated wide band gap materials are discussed in general terms. These find usage a large variety luminescent devices. The factors affecting can be classified into two broad categories. first has been thoroughly studied and entails interactions lead to nonradiative dissipation optical energy at specific active site. second set concerns leading delocalization transport away from originally excited state. Recent spectroscopic results these studies have allowed absolute placement ground state centers with respect intrinsic bands host crystal us elucidate systematics such placement. relevant evince property persistent phosphorescence our current interest. Developments materials, as well number new applications, will touched upon.
