摘要: Disturbance of iron homeostasis in the brain plays an important pathogenic role aggravating secondary neuronal injury and influencing recovery functional outcome following cerebral ischemia or hemorrhage via several mechanisms including release redox-active iron, depletion cellular energy stores, production superoxide hydroxyl radicals, lipid peroxidation. We systematically review currently available preclinical clinical evidence supporting iron-mediated toxicity ischemic hemorrhagic strokes, its potential mechanisms. also highlight strategies being developed for reduction stroke patients, novel therapeutic trials iron-modifying agents patients with strokes. Targeting as a treatment is appealing promising option. Future studies are needed to translate plethora data into setting.
