摘要: Abstract Objective : To study human teratogenic potential of oral nitrofurantoin treatment during pregnancy. Materials and Methods Pair analysis cases with congenital abnormalities matched population controls in the population-based dataset Hungarian Case-Control Surveillance Congenital Abnormalities, 1980–1996. Results Of 38,151 pregnant women who had newborn infants without any (population control group), 774 (3.4%); 22,865 case newborns or fetuses abnormalities, 1079 (2.8%) 812 Down's syndrome (patient controls), 23 were treated nitrofurantoin. The above differences between may be connected recall bias, because case-control pair did not indicate a use second third months gestation, i.e. critical period for major abnormalities. Conclusion Treatment pregnancy does present detectable risk to fetus.
