“Just take your medicine and everything will be fine”: Responsibilisation narratives in accounts of transitioning young people with HIV into adult care services in Australia

摘要: Young people who have grown up with perinatally acquired HIV in wealthy nations are increasingly transitioning into adult care settings which expect more independence and self-regulation than paediatric care. Drawing on the first qualitative study growing Australia, this paper examines "responsibilisation" narratives semi-structured interviews conducted young their providers. Three dominant were identified: responsibilisation as imperative, practice contest. This suggests that while an advanced liberal setting such Australia may value of care, appreciate need to take responsibility for health, practices involved becoming a responsible health citizen shaped by individual histories circumstances, some cases, can lead serious contestation conflict Placing stronger emphasis what gain from taking active role managing successfully foster responsibilisation, rather focusing they will lose.
