摘要: Abstract Boron removal is an important separation process which requires excessive operational cost owing to the complex nature of boron in aqueous solutions. Polymer-enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF) has been widely adopted for due low and high productivity. In this study, novel hydroxyl-terminated poly(ethyleneimine) (HPEI) polymers; namely, HPEI-Diol HPEI-Gluconamide, were designed synthesized as chelating polymers. A polyphenylenesulfone (PPSU) UF membrane was fabricated have a pure water permeance around 82.8 L.m−2.h−1.bar−1 with molecular weight cut off (MWCO) 128 kDa. The rejection coefficient pristine PPSU 6.38% attributed negatively charged surface membrane. Introducing either HPEI or polymer into feed solution increased 45%. Meanwhile, HPEI-Gluconamide found possess highest retention efficiency 94% at pH 4, may be ascribed higher number grafted hydroxyl groups.
