Faecal mucus degrading glycosidases in ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

摘要: Because the normal faecal flora includes bacteria which can produce mucus-digesting glycosidases, it follows that increased digestion of colonic mucus by these bacterial enzymes could be important in pathogenesis ulcerative colitis. Faecal activities potential mucus-degrading glycosidases have therefore been assayed samples from patients with inflammatory bowel disease and controls. The alpha-D-galactosidase, beta-D-galactosidase, beta-NAc-D-glucosaminidase alpha-L-fucosidase neuraminidase were assayed. Considerable glycosidase activity was present most samples. Similar all found faeces colitis, Crohn's controls there no significant correlation activity. These results imply relapse colitis is not initiated degradation but do exclude a role for
