摘要: The Solar Maximum Mission Gamma Ray Experiment (SMM GRE) utilizes an actively shielded, multicrystal scintillation spectrometer to measure the flux of solar gamma rays. instrument provides a 476-channel pulse height spectrum (with energy resolution ∼7% at 662 keV) every 16.38 s over range 0.3–9 MeV. Higher time (2 s) is available in three windows between 3.5 and 6.5 MeV study prompt ray line emission 4.4 6.1 spectral analysis can be extended ≳15 on command. Photons band from 300–350 keV are recorded with 64 ms. A high configuration also gives photons 10–100 neutrons ≳20 Both have 2 s. Auxiliary X-ray detectors will provide spectra 1-sec 10–140 keV. designed intensity, energy, Doppler shift narrow lines as well intensity extremely broadened photon continuum. main objective use this information both nuclear continuum direct dynamics flare/particle acceleration phenomena.
