摘要: Abstract Human use of the world’s seas and oceans is causing cumulative pressures on, changes to, coastal marine habitats. The Gulf Pozzuoli (GoP) one three marginal sub-basins identifiable in Naples which have been affected by strong anthropogenic pressure since end 19th century. While several studies demonstrated sediment water contamination GoP, to date, few fragmented data described effects on phytoplankton community such a system. In order contribute more detailed picture ecological status we analysed terms biomass functional diversity, particularly relation salinity nutrient availability. Our results reveal presence two different trophic areas GoP. first located eastern sector, sensitive land run-off characterized higher level biomass. second situated western lower Diatoms haptophytes were most representative groups; other minor groups showed spatial temporal variability, especially stations. weakening gradient from coast open point distribution nutrients suggest that GoP scattered sources, contribution overall system irregular depends dilution dynamics. Despite this, presents mean Chl concentrations similar those oligotrophic environments, and, high variability observed underlines importance applying appropriate sampling scales measure systems subject pressures.
