摘要: Abstract Zoning patterns in plagioclases are related to abrupt changes the anorthite content along crystal growing direction. Accurate characterization of these by electron microprobe is useful identify magma chamber processes such as recharge, mingling and whole-chamber overturn events. In this work, a new procedure obtain high resolution quantitative maps concentration single plagioclase crystals developed. The methodology consists performing calibration backscattered images using X-ray maps. ultimate characteristic X-rays signals studied Monte Carlo simulation. method applied characterize chemical composition volcanic from Cerro Vilama, Argentina. results obtained more precise than values given methods commonly used study composition, i.e. classical profiling point analysis or modern image means energy wavelength dispersive at few selected points.
