摘要: The narrow genetic base of many crops raises concerns about the prospects for continued gains necessary to meeting increasing demand agricultural output in an age climate changes. development and application introgression line (IL) breeding approach was proposed more efficiently harness potential stored exotic germplasm improvement performance elite germplasm, thereby expanding our crops. In tomato, IL has been used almost two decades, studies conducted on Solanum pennellii LA0716 ILs (the founding “exotic library”) using cutting-edge ‘omics’ platforms have clearly demonstrated effectiveness these congenic permanent resources fundamental biology, exploring utilizing hidden wild species practical use agriculture. Since pioneer collections representing different fractions parent genome developed a wide range results indicate that crop relatives are rich reservoir potentially valuable alleles, which would not predicted from mere phenotypes plants. Therefore, libraries, combined with ever-growing body genomics tools, expected further improve efficiency nature quantitative trait variation will be unveiled contribute face future challenges.
