We analysed this determine trends (NMCBSS). METHODS: A retrospective record review NMCBSS dataset for period 1999 –2008 was conducted, assessing proportions investigated cases; timeliness nature specimens received laboratory; feedback serology results, proportion cases confirmed as annualized rates investigation. Comparisons WHO performance indicators were done. The secondary analysis done Excel Epi-Info statistical software. RESULTS: Cumulatively 4994 suspected reported between 2008. Reported declined from 24, 5% 5.9% respectively 2000 3.9% 1.0% Proportion blood reaching laboratory timely increased 83% 65% 1999, 100% 82% arriving good condition improved 2004 94% 2008 while results 4% Sensitivity however weakening, declining 9.04 per 100 000 population year 1.58 cases/100 000/year CONCLUSION: quality, investigation, but its sensitivity mainly due reduced capacity detect confirm cases. recommend training staff on active more support supervisory visits strengthen EPI surveillance.
