摘要: Objective. —To determine the extent and severity of illness mode transmission Chlamydia pneumoniae infection in 3 nursing home outbreaks. Design Setting. —Retrospective cohort study homes Ontario from September to November 1994. Subjects. —A total 549 residents 65 staff members. Main Outcome Measures. —Morbidity mortality were determined by a review disease surveillance forms, residents' charts, self-administered questionnaire staff. Single paired serum samples for C serological testing nasopharyngeal swabs Cpneumoniae culture collected, direct fluorescent antibody assays performed confirm infection. Results. —The attack rates confirmed suspected cases combined 68%, 46%, 44% among A, B, C, respectively, 34% A 16 pneumonia chest x-ray 6 deaths identified. The spectrum included new cough 58 (100%), fever 37 (64%), sore throat 14 (24%), hoarseness 8 (14%). Staff members at more likely report (P Conclusions. — caused serious morbidity staff; is an important cause respiratory outbreaks homes, diagnostic tests must be readily available early recognition infections.
