摘要: Domestic violence is defined as assaultive behavior involving adults who are married, cohabitating, or have an ongoing prior intimate relationship (Goolkasian, 1986). Due to the very private nature of this act, incidences domestic assaults less likely come attention police than other crimes and therefore be included in official crime counts (Berk et al., 1984; Dutton, 1987; Hirschel 1992). However, results from a number wellregarded national studies (Straus Gelles, 1986; Tjaden Thoennes, 2000) indicate just how pervasive problem continues be. After many years neglect, has recently received tremendous amount policymakers, researchers, agency personnel. At first, shelters for abused women their children appeared followed by programs male batterers. With dramatic growth laws mandating presuming arrest response when responded assault calls late 1980s, increasing numbers batterers began appearing courts throughout nation. Judges saw that these abusers into treatment provided alternative sanction while simultaneously holding out hope breaking cycle and, way, truly helping victims violence.
