摘要: Proline dehydrogenase (ProDH), also called proline oxidase (POX), is a universal enzyme in living organisms. It catalyzes the oxidation of L-proline to delta1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate leading release electrons, which can be transferred either electron transfer systems or molecular oxygen. ProDH not only essential for catabolism but plays key roles providing energy, shuttling redox potential between cellular compartments and reactive oxygen species production. Structural analysis prokaryotic ProDHs already gives some insights into biochemical activity biological functions this enzyme, extended eukaryotic based on sequence similarities. Here we report most recent investigations regulation at transcriptional, post-transcriptional translational levels. The cell homeostasis adaptation through energetic, developmental, adaptive, physiological pathological processes eukaryotes are presented discussed create framework future research direction.
