摘要: South Asia accounts for around 31 % of the global population without access to electricity. While there is no denying fact that electrification rate increasing, such a situation continues exist despite several initiatives and policies support efforts by respective country governments. The challenges enhance electricity are manifold including technical, financial, institutional governance barriers. Based on an extensive literature review, this chapter attempts highlight rural at regional level in Asia. It also performs comparative analysis exploit cross learning potential suggest specific boosters could serve as input policy technology review assist future region. Here we have focused renewable energy based mini-grids stand-alone systems covered conventional grid extension. We raise some pertinent issues attempt find their solutions. household connection needs be improved considerably through targeted approach innovative micro-lending model. At same time supply enhanced, distributed power projects utilizing locally available resources, ensure connected households sustainable constraints do not inhibit extending virgin areas or intensification existing villages. Developing regulatory mechanism extend tariff fixation mini-grid providing cross-subsidies long term sustainability highlighted. Finally, economic linkages, credit arrangements need organised appropriately, especially off-grid facilitate successful outcomes.
