Aging with HIV in Latin America and the Caribbean: a Systematic Review.

摘要: With the establishment of antiretroviral treatment (ART) programs in low- and middle-income countries, people with HIV (PWH) Latin America Caribbean (LAC) are living longer, subsequently developing chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Few studies focus on impact aging among older LAC PWH. This systematic review aims to fill this information gap understand burden LAC. We identified peer-reviewed literature published English, Spanish, or Portuguese from several databases assess currently available evidence selected six common NCDs found PWH (cardiovascular disease [CVD], bone musculoskeletal [MSK] disorders, cancer, renal disease, neurocognitive impairment [NCI], depression). Of 5942 publications reviewed, only 53 articles were populations 40 years age-related findings (27 CVD, 13 NCI depression, 6 MSK 4 3 cancer). Most (79%) Brazil few longitudinal HIV. Prevalence illnesses such as NCI, osteoporosis varied widely depending screening instrument utilized geographic population surveyed. Age was a significant predictor comorbidity nearly all studies. Our results demonstrate need for validated instruments appropriate use Understanding mechanisms behind roles sociocultural factors genetic diversity specific is needed appropriately manage comorbidities age.
