摘要: Abstract Aspen is a keystone species in boreal forests. The future of aspen many conservation areas threatened by ungulate browsing. Our aim was to study the effect browsing on regeneration and population structure Central Finland, surrounding landscape density varied greatly among within areas. In about half areas, middle-sized aspens were scarce or missing, which indicates heavy recent past. addition, number dead, large advanced decay stages rare. Browsing pressure but average, bit more than living had been browsed. Landscape influenced so that increasing proportion farmland 1 km 3 km decreased pressure. poor recruitment jeopardizes accumulation dead aspens. This means aspen-associated are risk local extinction, unless enhanced management.
