摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reviews some of the psychophysical data and acoustic that shed light on how peripheral auditory system creates form representation speech signal. There are two motivations for engaging in this kind activity. The first is simply to gain an understanding signals processed system, so one can know what aspects signal become distinctive or highlighted representation, suppressed. A second, perhaps more fundamental, motivation insight into constraints imposed by shape inventory sounds used language, processing imposes a classificatory structure - plays important role determining organization phonological component language. considers kinds planned be as evidence, interpret these data, before proceeding discuss specific evidence representation. One comes from measurements sounds, other studies perception speech-like sounds.
