摘要: The present study is a literature-based analysis investigating occurrence and the possible consequences of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in marine protected areas (MPAs) Latin America Caribbean. approach using overlapping georeferenced MPA polygons with data compiled from peer-reviewed literature, published during last 15 years, showed 341 records PAH 9 countries. was reported to occur within boundaries 36 MPAs located Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua Uruguay. According quality guidelines, low moderate impacts are expected categorized different management classes. Considering sediment samples, 13% presented concentrations enough cause occasional toxicity. Such level risk also seen Ramsar sites Amazonian MPAs. In addition, based on biota, deleterious effects organisms Biosphere Reserves might occur. Diagnostic ratios pointed out petrogenic pyrolytic processes as predominant sources, were mainly attributed proximity ports, industries urban areas. vicinity impact-generating may be under threat require government attention action, through implementation contamination monitoring programs.
