摘要: In order to thrive, animals must be able recognize aversive and appetitive stimuli within the environment subsequently initiate appropriate behavioral responses. This assignment of positive or negative valence a stimulus is key feature emotional processing, neural substrates which have been topic study for several decades. Until recently, result this work has identification specific brain regions, such as basolateral amygdala (BLA) nucleus accumbens (NAc), important encoding. The advent modern tools in neuroscience allowed further dissection these regions identify populations neurons signaling environmental stimuli. review, we focus upon recent examining mechanisms encoding, provide model systematic investigation anatomically-, genetically-, functionally defined neurons.
