摘要: Photoreceptors are exquisitely adapted to transform light stimuli into electrical signals that modulate neurotransmitter release. These cells organized several compartments including the unique outer segment (OS). Its whole function is absorb and transduce this signal a change of membrane potential. Another compartment inner where much metabolism regulation potential takes place connects OS synapse. The synapse changes in potentials relayed other neurons retina via release neurotransmitter. composition plasma surrounding these varies accommodate their specific functions. In chapter, we discuss organization emphasizing protein each region as it relates visual signaling. We also point out examples mutations proteins cause impairment.
