Late-Holocene variation in vertical thermal gradient from the coastal East China Sea: Links to monsoon climate and coastal upwelling

摘要: The evolution history of coastal upwelling systems in the East China Sea over late-Holocene are important yet difficult to be characterized. Here, we present ~3000-year temperature records based on both alkenones (UK’37) and glycerol dialkyl tetraethers (TEXH86) from a sedimentary core site southern Sea. By examining similarity difference between down-core TEXH86-derived sea surface temperature, summer monsoon, winter suggest that TEXH86 mainly reflects subsurface water studied site. In this sense, paired would yield an estimation vertical thermal gradient, which provides insight into strength season.
