摘要: The literature describing the energy needs for a communications channel has been dominated by analyses of linear electromagnetic transmission, often without awareness that this is special case. This case leads to conclusion an amount equal kTln 2, where kT thermal noise per unit bandwidth, needed transmit bit, and more if quantized channels are used with photon energies hnu > kT. Alternative communication methods proposed show there no unavoidable minimal requirement transmitted bit. These invoked as part analysis ultimate limits not practical procedures.
