LTE IoT link budget and coverage performance in practical deployments

摘要: This paper provides an updated analysis of link-budget and coverage performance for LTE IoT technologies: enhancements machine type communications (eMTC) narrowband Internet Things (NB-IoT). Previous studies have used the 3GPP evaluations assumptions demonstrated capabilities these technologies when they are independently deployed. Some operators are, however, likely to deploy dual-mode networks — eMTC NB-IoT with intent supporting different applications in two systems. With all conditions being equal systems such a scenario, comparison then requires that aligned. extends previous aligned provide fair comparison. The study shows compared assumption, under assumptions, both can support up 5dB 3dB higher uplink coverage, respectively. We further show link budget improvements yield significantly reduced outage simulated scenarios based on real network deployments: wide area rural case urban deep indoor case. results demonstrate potential realistic deployment conditions.
