摘要: Abstract—The increased usage and proliferation of small scaledigital devices, like celluar (mobile) phones has led to theemergence mobile device analysis tools techniques. Thisfield digital forensics grown out the mainstream practiceof computer forensics. Practitioners are faced with various typesof cellular phone generation technologies, proprietary embeddedfirmware systems, along a staggering amount uniquecable connectors for different models within samemanufacturer brand. This purpose this paper is provide foundational conceptsfor data forensic practitioner. It will outline commoncell their characteristics, han-dling procedures. Further evidence storage areas alsoexplained types found in storageareas. Specific information also noted about BlackBerry andiPhone devices.Detailed procedures analysis/extraction mobiledevices how use toolkits that availableis beyond scope paper; numbers cellphones intricacies makes impossible. However, resources reader further investigate topicare attached appendix.Index Terms—Mobile Device, Cell Phones, BlackBerry, PDA,Smart Cellular Phone Generation, CDMA, TDMA,GSM, iDen, SIM, IMEI, IMSI, ICCID, ESN, MEID, PIN, PUK,Flash Memory, Memory Cards, Mobile Device Analysis, AnalysisTools, Forensics
