摘要: Abstract Studies of forest fragmentation in the tropics have systematically paid more attention to understanding processes contributing formation landscapes that are product deforestation, while little or no has been forested secondary growth processes. In this paper, using information cover from 1960 2000 derived aerial photography and remote sensing data, we examine dynamics associated with deforestation at Chorotega region, Costa Rica. Our analysis is conducted a comprehensive land capability map developed for country. results indicate occurrence two well-defined change over time. Extensive/intensive cattle ranching practices contribute significant degradation loss characterize first these processes, occurring between 1980. The second period (1980–2000) characterized by dynamic process resulting combination internal international market forces conservation initiatives. Conclusions paper needs be tropical recuperating years constant degradation. This natural recovery could beneficial biodiversity recovery, biological corridors environmental services.
