摘要: The barn owl uses binaural phase and intensity differences for sound localization. These two cues also determine the receptive fields of specialized neurons in inferior colliculus. main aim this study was to investigate where neuronal sensitivity emerges brainstem auditory nuclei, how reaches owl's phase- sensitive are selective microsecond high frequency signals, unlike mammalian phase-sensitive which restricted low signals. In certain nuclei virtually all either or differences, but not both. form distinctly separate pathways that converge at colliculus both occur. contrast system, difference-sensitive segregated into channels.
