摘要: Abstract In February 2004, a lichen species richness survey was conducted on 734 open-grown trees at 156 sites in Hamilton, Ontario. Index of atmospheric purity (IAP) values mapped with GIS software showed that residential areas had more species, suggesting they cleaner air than the downtown and heavy industry areas. To characterize ambient quality differences across city, Parmelia sulcata Hale collected clean rural site, placed 38 mesh bags, hung city from July to November 2004. Elemental analysis by ICP-MS found bags located near accumulated higher levels lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), vanadium (V), chromium (Cr) were elsewhere city. Lichen deserts elevated some elements downwind are potential environmental concern merit detailed investigation. The monitoring protocols used here have considerable as way assess urban southern
