摘要: Staples and subcuticular suture are commonly used wound closure techniques after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). To date, only a few studies have investigated the differences between these two methods in TKA. Accordingly, this study aimed to compare cosmetic outcome patient satisfaction staples for post-TKA closure. This prospective randomized controlled trial included patients scheduled undergo TKA at Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Siriraj Hospital (Bangkok, Thailand) during June 2018–March 2019. Patients were into or groups. Hollander Wound Evaluation Scale (HWES), cosmetic-visual analogue scale (VAS), satisfaction-VAS evaluated 6-week 3-month follow-ups. Functional by modified Knee Society Scoring System complications also assessed. Sixty-two (31 per group) included. There no significant HWES, cosmetic-VAS, satisfaction-VAS, complication rate groups time was significantly shorter group (p < 0.001), but operative not different Modified score better 6 weeks (p = 0.024), there difference 3 months. Significant association observed cosmetic-VAS (p = 0.03) (p = 0.021) Subcuticular found be comparable wound-closure options relative outcome, satisfaction, functional 3-months post-operation.
