Constructing large-scale tensegrity structures with bar–bar connection using prismatic elementary cells

摘要: As a novel type of light-weight and reticulated structures, tensegrities have found many technologically important applications. In this paper, facile method is developed to construct class large-scale consisting bar–bar connection using prismatic elementary cells. We tune the orientation structural axis each cell by affine transformation technique. Then, cells can be assembled easily in any directions required design. The proposed here allows us various types tensegrity structures satisfying demands sizes topology. A number representative examples are provided, including straight curved beams, plates, shells, three-dimensional tensegrities.
