摘要: The introduction of multislice CTscanners and the associated dose increase compared to single dual slice scanners has concerned many radiologists, health medical physicists, as well members regulatory community. Since are inherently post-patient collimated, they less efficient than CTscanners, which use prepatient collimation. x-ray beam must be wide enough in Z axis so that remains on detector spite typical movements due thermal mechanical flexing. We describe tracking system is employed a GE LightSpeed QX/i®scanner substantially reduce dose. stabilizes allowing narrower exposure profile without tracking. measures position every few milliseconds continually repositions source aperture hold narrow fixed detector. Using standard QX/i® collimator segmented detector, dose reductions up 40% were measured when was employed. also show potential provide efficiency approaching scanners.
