摘要: Objectives No previous randomised controlled trials had been undertaken investigating the effect of school seating on back pain in 14 to 16 year olds. This study was designed test use a high-density foam wedge normal intensity pain. Design Randomised trial. Setting Suffolk, predominantly rural county eastern England. Participants One hundred and eighty-five students with were recruited from 12 schools. Randomisation stratified by school. The control intervention groups included 92 83 students, respectively. Intervention Following 1-week baseline observation period, each student group given their chairs. Outcome measure primary outcome (numerical rating scale, 0 10) recorded diaries over 4 weeks. Random effects models used analyse data. Results Ninety-seven (46 group, 51 group) completed For reduced significantly 3 weeks use. average reduction estimated be 0.709 points (95% confidence interval 0.341 1.077), representing 58% for those group. Conclusion Use significantly, especially evenings. results suggest that further research into longer-term adolescents should considered.
