摘要: Changes to the global climate are driving alterations boundary current-influenced marine ecosystems. The diet of a pelagic teleost, Arripis trutta, was examined in East Australian Current (EAC)-dominated coastal waters of southeastern (SE) Australia. A. trutta dominated by baitfish, primarily sardine (Sardinops sagax) and scads (Trachurus spp.). Diet varied substantially with both latitude season linked variability distribution abundance of key prey species. An ontogenetic shift occurred, crustaceans polychaetes making up a large proportion the diet small fish compared dominance baitfish at larger sizes. has undergone dramatic shift from one krill (Nyctiphanes australis) historically today. This change is consistent well-documented regime caused increasing intensity EAC on SE waters. Understanding temporal dynamics of this ecosystem crucial for management fisheries also understanding impacts on boundary current-dominated ecosystems worldwide.
