摘要: Elevated end-tidal partial pressure of CO2 (Pet ) causes air hunger; this sensation becomes intense with a relatively small rise in Pet if ventilation is held constant. Spontaneously breathing subjects increase response to CO2, thereby greatly diminishing hunger. In healthy and ventilator-dependent patients, experimenter-induced increases ventilator tidal volume (Vt) relieve hunger even kept elevated.
