摘要: We have studied expression of the urokinase receptor (u-PAR) in paraffin-embedded breast tissues at various stages malignant progression. Forty-nine 59 invasive cancers showed varying degrees reactivity with our polyclonal antibody. The staining pattern was variable from case to case, although strong surface tumor-associated macrophages evident most these sections. In several cases, blood vessels selected tumor areas were stained, as confirmed by treatment adjacent sections an anti-factor VIII These could represent regions recent angiogenesis. Staining cells observed 21 cases and extensive 5 but confined a small percentage remaining 16 samples. contrast cancer sections, all normal tissue (12 cases) negative, well fibroadenomas (4 cases), papillomas (5 hyperplasia atypia (2 studied. Seven carcinomas situ examined also negative for u-PAR, exception few two suggesting that u-PAR may be associated tumor. presence human its absence nonmalignant supports idea plasminogen activation plays important role process invasion. Expression on macrophages, endothelial cells, suggests existence complex paracrine interactions between stroma.
