Basidiospore viability and germination in ectomycorrhizal and saprotrophic basidiomycetes

摘要: Spores of the ectomycorrhizal basidiomycetes Rhizopogon rubescens and Suillus tomentosus were induced to germinate stained with fluorescent stains FDA DAPI assess germinability viability. Basidiospores several saprotrophic species including Pleurotus ostreatus, Marasmius oreades, Agaricus brunnescens, Coprinus quadrifidus Conocybe lactea also assayed for comparison. Nearly all spores both fungi contained intact nuclei. The percentage R. S. that increased throughout study. Peaks in staining corresponded germination events which occurred every 9 13 days. P. ostreatus M. oreades was high rates germinability. Germination other variable. In unreliable as an indicator viability but served a good predictor dormancy. Non-fluorescent vital nuclear compared gave similar results. Equations estimating viability, dormancy, activation are presented.
