摘要: The species representation of public databases is growing rapidly and permits increasingly detailed phylogenetic inferences. We present a supermatrix based on all gene sequences Coleoptera available in Genbank for two nuclear (18S 28S rRNA) mitochondrial (rrnL cox1) genes. After filtering unique names the addition ˜2000 unpublished cox1 18S rRNA, resulting data matrix included 8441 species-level terminals 6600 aligned nucleotide positions. concatenated represents equivalent 2.17% 390 000 described includes 152 beetle families. remaining 29 families constitute small lineages with ˜250 known total. Taxonomic coverage remains low several major lineages, including Buprestidae (0.16% species), Staphylinidae (1.03%), Tenebrionidae (0.90%) Cerambycidae (0.58%). current taxon sampling was strongly biased towards Northern Hemisphere. Phylogenetic trees obtained from were very good agreement Linnaean classification, particular at family level, but lower subfamily lowest genus level. topology supports basal split Derodontidae Scirtoidea Polyphaga, broad paraphyly Cucujoidea. extraction pipeline tree provide framework placement any new sequences, environmental samples, into DNA-based classification system Coleoptera.
