摘要: Fifty-nine children with congenital asplenia were reviewed for episodes of severe infection. Seven childrenhad isolated and 52 had associated complex heart disease (asplenia syndrome). A control group eusplenic comparable cardiac lesions was assembled used comparative statistical analysis. There 16 instances documented sepsis among 59 (27%). In those less than six months age, the invading organism usually gram-negative ( Escherichia coli or Klebsiella ). age older, infecting a pneumococcus H. influenzae . When syndrome compared to population, former significantly greater incidence sepsis. Children who survived first month life at risk dying from their disease.
