摘要: Abstract Grazing-incidence XAFS spectroscopy was applied to study the sorption of Zn(II) on two crystallographically distinct surfaces highly polished sapphire single crystals as a simplified analog for metal ion natural aluminum-(hydr)oxides. Experiments were performed both in situ (in contact with bulk solution) and ex humidified N2 atmosphere. The identification an Al shell at roughly 3 A all samples indicates that binds inner sphere complex (0001) (1–102) surfaces. first Zn–O distances 1.97–1.99 suggest Zn is fourfold coordination oxygen samples. However, sample drying appears have induced formation polynuclear surface complexes closer values expected sixfold (2.06–2.07 A). results presented here show characterization products crystal using feasible if solution conditions are chosen carefully.
