摘要: We evaluated the effectiveness of 2 dopamine antagonists as treatments for fescue toxicosis in horses. Sixteen gravid mares were assigned by breed and expected foaling date to 1 3 treatment groups: endophyte-infested control; 1.1 mg domperidone/kg body weight/d; 3.3 sulpiride/kg/d. Mares pastured on endophyte-infected received 0.454 kg a corn dried molasses carrier containing drug treatment. Treatment started 30 days prior continued until parturition. Blood samples collected, mammary gland scores recorded every 5 days. Body weight condition obtained 28 Serum was analyzed prolactin, progesterone, estradiol-17 beta concentrations. Domperidone-treated had shorter (P = 0.09) gestation duration foaled closer 0.07) their parturition than did control mares. Mammary higher < 0.05) domperidone-treated By 4 9 after start treatment, serum prolactin concentration sulpiride-treated mares, respectively, Domperidone- progesterone lower 0.01) concentrations These results indicate that domperidone may offer considerable potential
