摘要: Continental flood basalt eruptions have resulted in sudden and massive accumulations of basaltic lavas excess any contemporary volcanic processes. The largest events mark the earliest activity many major hot spots, which are thought to result from deep mantle plumes. relative volumes melt eruption rates basalts spots as well their temporal spatial relations can be explained by a model plume initiation: Flood represent "heads" continuing magmatism associated with remaining conduit or "tail." rifting is not required, although it commonly follows volcanism, provinces may occur natural consequence initiation hot-spot ocean basins on continents.
