摘要: Abstract The distribution of 14C in the unsaponifiable (neutral) and saponifiable (acidic) components tissue lipids was examined 4, 24, 72 hours after subcutaneous injection [2-14C]mevalonate into 9-day-old rats. Of total radioactivity contained plus material, 7 to 33% acidic fraction obtained from brain, spinal cord, skin, most it (90% brain cord) being associated with palmitate stearate ratio 8:2 or 7:3, 4 injections. Seventy-two injections became slightly more heavily labeled than these three organs. kidney lung also, but not as extensively organs ectodermal origin. In contrast n-fatty acids liver did contain detectable isotopic label. incorporation label two fatty skin increased linearly increasing doses mevalonate. It is postulated that diverted through a shunt 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA free acetoacetate which utilized preferentially for acid synthesis skin. Mechanisms could account recycling carbon atoms intermediates sterol biosynthesis are presented.
