摘要: It is argued that not-for-profit hospitals can be assumed to generate a return on equity capital due, in principle, competition the final product market for hospital services and market. Practical difficulties identifying claimants net income of firm, as well incentive problems cost-based reimbursement, suggest competitive pricing approach likely appropriate means provide reasonable for-profit hospital. Implications analysis correct discount rate investment decisions are outlined.
